Placemaking

The redesign of The Little Vine marked a strategic effort to rejuvenate an already successful brand and retail shop in North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. Situated in the vibrant yet compact confines of San Francisco’s Little Italy, this local wine and cheese market sought a means to contemporize its image while maximizing its modest storefront.

Drawing inspiration from the essence of North Beach's heritage, we embarked on a journey to immerse patrons in the ambiance of a bygone romantic Southern Italian town from the late 1970s, all brushed with a touch of retro-futurism. An earthy palette of subdued greens harmonized with the richness of walnut grain, establishing the visual foundation. A distinct focus was placed on crafting an immersive environment that deviates from conventional retail experiences within the city. Balancing the allure of Italian rustic villages and the essence of abundance, we artfully married it with a raw, gritty undertone characteristic of San Francisco's iconic bohemian enclave.

Concept

Creating an effortlessly cool and cinematic vibe that evokes a sense of drama and curiosity. Using the juxtaposition of bold elements that exude confidence and delicate touches that bring relief and comfort, we can create a level of complexity that keeps patrons engaged with the story of Little Vine.

We want to provide a portal for people to tap into a world of romantic runaways to 60’s St. Tropez; turning a familiar experience or product into something exotic.

Bold. Curious. Cinematic. Dreamy. Complicated. Romantic.
